Waterfront Theatre School - The training of the Male dancer & The Glee Club

THE TRAINING OF THE MALE DANCER

The school runs separate dance classes for male students in all dance genres plus Body Conditioning and Strengthening Techniques.

Classes are integrated periodically when the work that is covered is performed by both male and female students. This is to encourage the inter-action required for shows and “Double Work” at higher levels. Much of the work is sport related.

THE I.S.T.D. DANCE EXAMINATIONS

Examinations in Dance are held in June or October/November, depending on the Show Performance plans for the year.

RECREATIONAL AND BEGINNER CLASSES -THE GLEE CLUB

Beginner Classes are offered in all dance genres at four levels -

  1. Pre-Teens (Age group 10 to 12 years)
  2. Teens 1 (Beginners aged 13 and above)
  3. Teens 2 (15 years and above with experience)

These classes are classed as “Recreational” as opposed to “Vocational” and are not an examination stream. However, the student may adjust and move classes to a structured examination stream should the student’s progress warrant the move, or move from an examination stream to a recreational stream if further examinations are not desireable or possible for any physical reason.
